Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

A thoughtful first step toward clarity, relief, and a plan that actually fits.

If you’ve felt stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure for a long time, the first thing you deserve is to be heard.

A psychiatric evaluation at Goldstone is a thorough conversation — not a 15-minute symptom checklist. We take time to understand who you are, what you’re experiencing, and what kind of care will actually help you feel better and stay better.

What an evaluation looks like

Your first visit is typically 60 minutes. We’ll explore your current symptoms alongside your broader story:

  • Your psychiatric and medical history
  • Family history and how it may shape your experience
  • Sleep, energy, focus, and mood patterns
  • Work, school, relationships, and daily life
  • Past treatments — what helped, what didn’t, and why
  • Your goals for what feels different

This isn’t about handing you a diagnosis and a prescription. It’s about understanding the full picture so the plan we build together makes sense for your life.

Why the depth matters

Psychiatric symptoms often overlap. Trouble concentrating could be ADHD, anxiety, depression, sleep loss, burnout, or something medical. Mood swings could be many things, too.

A rushed evaluation often leads to missed diagnoses and years of trial and error. A careful one helps you get to the right plan faster.

What we commonly evaluate

  • Depression and mood disorders — including bipolar spectrum and treatment-resistant depression
  • Anxiety — generalized anxiety, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety
  • ADHD — focus, organization, executive functioning
  • OCD and intrusive thoughts
  • PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
  • Insomnia and sleep concerns
  • Complex or unclear diagnoses — second opinions and diagnostic clarification

After your evaluation

By the end of your visit, you’ll leave with a clearer picture and a plan we’ve shaped together. Depending on what we find, that plan might include medication, therapy recommendations, lifestyle adjustments, lab work, or coordination with your other clinicians.

✦  Coming Soon

In the near future, our plans also include advanced options like TMS, Spravato (esketamine), and ketamine therapy — coming to Goldstone as we expand our neuromodulation services.

Common questions

Do I need a referral?

Most patients don’t. If your insurance plan requires one, we’ll let you know before your first visit.

Sometimes — but only if it’s clearly the right next step. Our priority is getting the diagnosis right. If medication helps, we’ll talk it through. If something else fits better, we’ll explain why.

Yes. Telehealth evaluations are available throughout Texas and follow the same thoughtful, unrushed approach as in-person visits.

Book your psychiatric evaluation for in-person or by telehealth. We’ll take the time to listen, and you’ll leave with a clear next step.
